What is Email Marketing?

An email is like a digital letter that lets people talk to each other from far away. When a bunch of emails are sent to many people, it is called an emailing campaign. This has been a popular way for businesses to advertise for a long time.

This type of marketing is called direct marketing because it directly reaches out to the recipients with clear and straightforward information.

Just like a regular email you receive, marketing emails are also opened in email readers like Google, Yahoo, or Microsoft Outlook.

What are Different Types of Email Marketing?

 Prospecting Email

A prospecting email is a simple marketing strategy where you send an email to possible new customers to attract their interest. Sometimes, people may find these emails unwanted, but they can still be effective in generating new leads.

To increase the chances of your email being opened, it is best to send unique and original messages. Avoid using the same repetitive templates like, "Hi X, we are Y, and we want to offer you our services... If you are interested, please let us know, and we would be happy to work with you.

Many companies typically send three prospecting emails: the first one introduces and presents their services, the second one follows up on the response of recipient, and the third one acts as another follow-up. If the prospect does not react after these three attempts, the company may decide to try again later or remove them from their contacts.

 Loyalty Email:

One common type of loyalty campaign is newsletters. You might have seen a small tab when you visit a website, asking if you would like to subscribe to their newsletter. If you agree, you provide your email address in the designated box. By subscribing, you will receive regular updates and stay informed about the company and its website.

Another type of loyalty email is privilege offers. When you open these emails, you will be greeted with a message thanking you for your loyalty and offering a small gift as a token of appreciation. This gift could be a promotion, free support, a voucher, or some other bonus offer.

Email Retargeting

Email retargeting is a strategy that involves sending follow-up emails to people who have visited your company's website but have not taken any specific action, like making a purchase or subscribing to an offer. The goal is to convert these visitors into potential customers and ultimately turn them into loyal patrons. By sending these emails, you encourage them to return to your site and take the desired action.

Transaction Email:

A transaction email is an automatic response sent to customers when they reply to your email. It serves as an acknowledgement that you have received their message, and assures them that their request is being taken seriously, and you will respond promptly.

This practice is highly recommended in e-commerce as it encourages effective communication and strengthens the relationship with your customers. If a user sends an email but does not receive a transactional email in return, they may seek alternatives elsewhere. Creating transactional emails is a great way to retain and satisfy your customers.

The Text

This is the most common and straightforward email format. Even though it includes all the information, it tends to have the lowest opening rate because it lacks originality. The response of recipient is not expected to be significant since they might have just quickly read the email due to lack of time and not fully understood its contents.

The Image

Visual communication is highly valuable in E marketing. Nowadays, people find emails with images more appealing than plain text ones. Using images helps to showcase your brand and message effectively with easily understandable designs. Image-based email campaigns often have high click rates, indicating their marketing effectiveness.

However, it is essential to be cautious. Some software may classify marketing emails with images as spam, causing them to end up in the recipient's unwanted mail folder. As a result, the intended message may go unnoticed.

The HTML

In an HTML email campaign, you will need to make changes to HTML or CSS codes to create unique content. This format allows you to combine text, images, and other elements. If your company is a big brand, it is recommended because it is efficient and professional.

If you are not comfortable with HTML coding, you can use an email template for your marketing emails.

Announcement of Fresh Content

Send an email to announce exciting news whenever your company has something interesting to share. This could be about a new product, a sale, a coupon, a webinar, a conference, an eBook, or anything captivating. Make sure to provide all the relevant information in the email and include clear links to a specific landing page for customers to learn more. Keep the email short and straightforward, with a prominent call-to-action to ensure it catches the recipient's attention.

 Newsletters

Many different businesses, regardless of their size or industry, send newsletters to their clients. These newsletters are sent to keep the businesses in their clients' minds and maintain a connection with them over time. The newsletters can be used to share new blog content or updates about the company. To make sure your readers know what to expect in each newsletter, keep the format simple and consistent. And do not forget, a catchy subject line will entice your readers to read the newsletter thoroughly.

Invitation to our Exciting Event!

When our company plans a fun event, we want all our subscribers to be a part of it! Join us for an unforgettable experience by signing up for our event. We promise you a unique and interesting time.

Do not miss out on the event's essential information: date, time, cost, and agenda. We can not wait to see you there!

Product update Email

You may need to give your customers updates depending on your business and the products you sell.

Sending updates can be difficult because customers may not always find them interesting. So, make sure the updates are short, simple, and to the point. Include only the essential information about any changes to your product's features or performance.

If you have many updates, consider sending a single email that summarizes all the important information instead of bombarding your readers with frequent product emails.

 Co-Marketing Email

Do you have an exciting partnership in mind? If yes, consider sending a co-marketing email! Co-marketing is when two or more businesses team up to work on a project, event, or activity together. The goal is to reach a wider audience and expand their customer base.

The email will be sent to customers of all the businesses involved, whether it is about a joint webinar, conference, or a collaboration on a new product launch.

Make sure to include all the important details about the partnership in the email, especially if one of the businesses is more popular or well-liked than the others. It is a great way to maximize the benefits for everyone involved!

Dedicated Email

A dedicated send email is a special message your company sends to a specific group of customers. It's used when you want to share important news or updates with people who have signed up for an event, like a conference or webinar.

Basically, these emails are sent only to subscribers who really need the information in the email, rather than sending it to everyone on your list.

Seasonal campaign

If your company is planning a special promotion for holidays like Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, Father's Day, or Thanksgiving, it is time to launch your seasonal campaign. These email advertisements should create excitement and let all subscribers know what is coming.

Retailers can make the most of these marketing emails. Use a theme that matches the holiday (like pink for Valentine's Day), highlight the urgency by mentioning the event date, and start sending these emails early to build anticipation.

Thank You Email

Do not leave a potential customer hanging! When someone fills out a form on your website, it is difficult to send them a quick response, often called a "thank you" email.

In this email, keep it simple and appreciative. Just say "thank you" and provide any promised links or details they signed up for. It is a great way to make them feel valued and ensure they do not lose interest.

 Re-engagement Emails

If you notice that some of your customers have not been engaging with your emails lately, it is a good idea to consider sending re-engagement emails. These emails are meant to reconnect with inactive subscribers and rebuild a positive relationship.

A simple way to do this is by asking for their input or feedback. By reaching out, you remind them about your company and its offerings. If they respond, it is a win-win situation because they are once again showing interest, and you can gather valuable feedback to improve your processes and marketing strategies.

The great part is that not only will your overall email engagement rates increase, but your reputation with internet service providers will also improve, even if some people decide to unsubscribe.

Video Emails

Video emails and brand story marketing work well together. They are great tools for showcasing your company's skills and background in a creative way. If you want to effectively communicate your message, consider using:

• A video highlighting one of your products or projects

• An overview of your business in video format

Including videos in your email marketing is a smart choice because people tend to retain 95% of the information from videos compared to only 10% from text. Videos have higher engagement rates! For example, Wistia conducted A/B testing on their email campaigns and found that using video thumbnails instead of images resulted in a 21.52% increase in clicks. So, using videos in your emails can make a significant impact on your marketing success.

Lead Naturing

Lead nurturing is all about how familiar you are with your potential customers or leads. If you are not very familiar with them, do not worry! Lead nurturing emails can help you with that. These emails are a series of connected messages designed to achieve a specific goal, and they contain useful information for the reader.

You can use these emails to promote various things, like a new blog post, an upcoming webinar, or a special offer your company has. The main purpose is to keep your leads informed and engaged with what's happening in your company.
